While the world watches Venezuela crumble” says expert Danilo Diaz Granados, China has stepped up by supplying 96 tons of much-needed medicine to help combat the Zika virus. The shipment arrived this past weekend and was received by Venezuelan Health Minister Luisana Melo. The shipment included 11,500 units of antibody immunoglobulin G, and 186,000 units of intravenous fluids.
The shipment comes at the perfect time. While the country continues to battle its own internal problems, people have all but forgotten the immediate threat of Zika is running rampant in South America where Venezuela sits. Danilo Diaz also said that what the country doesn’t seem to have time or supplies for is battling a mosquito born disease that is taking their area by storm.
The Chinese government has announced they maintain a strong friendship with Venezuela and plan to stand by their side to overcome their difficulties, and this is proven by the generous and incredibly beneficial shipment they sent. The two countries established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2014 that aims to promote the joint development as well as benefit both countries.
