AstroMan emailed last eve: "It's gonna be goin' off at Decoys, come on
out and play!" So I did. AM was absolutely right! Jumped in at 630AM under
a clear sky and a setting full moon. Swell came up overnight, so it was
a lot bigger than Saturday. Waves were 2XO+, tide was high, and the
Salty Dog was hanging in the lineup.
AM Appears Out of the Darkness
Soon after riding the first three waves, AstroMan paddled out and
joined the party. As on Saturday, the high tide made for some flabby
waves and many mondo mushburgers. Was a bit of a chore to get lined up;
5 feet to the reef side and you got pitched, 5 feet to the channel side
and you couldn't stroke into it. The first wave actually pitched a fat lip
out and over my head while I was making the drop. Somehow I punched through
the veil and made my way across the face.
Is everybody Asleep?
We surfed an hour or more before anyone else came out. Then two surfers
came out to help us take apart the sets. Soon after I caught a mondo shoreboat,
and headed into the beach. Many others began to arrive as I snapped some pix from
the beach. I'll post some of the sess soon as I can. All in all a most satisfying
morning workout.
CU Out There,
DogMan
